Lewis Madley asked me to put together three of his stories for his grandsons, in pocket size soft cover volume. The stories were boys’ adventures in the wilderness, much like the books Lewis read as a youngster in the 1940s and 50s. With that as inspiration, I found some lovely graphics of mountains and lakes to illustrate the BC landscape, and combined them with some vintage looking fonts. As there are two brothers in the stories, I gave the canoe on the front cover two figures, paddling along at sunset. Related graphics made good title pages, as we splashed out a bit with some colour pages.
