Mike Peters, author, and Andrew Gizzie, mixologist and photographer, have created an entirely new sort of book, a film noir mystery with cocktail recipes. To bring together this unusual mixture needed some striking graphic design to show off both the writing and the photos. Mike and Andrew trusted me to come up with an impactful design inspired by old film noir titles, long shadows and grainy film. With a mix of fonts – including a bold sans serif, a 3D font set, and some charming cocktail ornaments – the book came together with a sense of drama and playfulness. They love the results!
